He is trying to tell the ready that hunting isn't always a good thing. The writer wrote the story to show us that no matter how much you like hunting us humans shouldn't hunt. He shows how it would feel to be the hunted.
He wrote this story to say that if you were a hunter and killing animals what if you were the person that is going to be the one hunted. So he is saying that is not right to kill animals and if you don't want to be the one that is going to be hunted.
Yes, they are showing us that hunting is not right and that general is killing people just the fun of it.
