I think they made gods and mortals so people would know humans are not that same as gods. Gods know what there doing and know how to change things. Humans don't know how to us powers to change things. I think humans made sacrifices for the gods because god were more powerful. Gods ruled us back then
The gods relationship with humans is manifested through their significant roles ducting that lives. Humans sacrificed to appease the pagan god Humans also sacrificed because it made the king less of an ordinary human.
The interaction with the gods is that they feel better than the mortals. The mortals are afraid of them for bringing bad to their homes. Though the gods interact with them by having kids. The mortals think if they sacrifice a human or animal that it's going to bring good luck to them.

The gods were bigger more powerful versions of man. They had human emotions but the lived forever. They had flaws but great powers. They treated man sort of on a equal level.
The gods on Mount Olympus are interesting, they’re certainly very unlike gods in any other major religion. With their supernatural capabilities, susceptibility to injury, conflicting desires, and perpetually changing allegiances, the gods are more like little kids on a playground than infinitely compassionate deities.

The humans were made in the gods image they were made with emotions hearts and souls like the gods. However they did not live for ever they had limited life spans and could die from many causes. The humans worshipped the gods because if they did they would receive rewards. If they disrespected them then they would receive punishment.
