Reason people vote is because any large election the chance of any one vote determining the outcome is low. Voter turnout is the percentage of eligible voters who cast a ballot in an election.
low turnout may be due to disenchantment, indifference, or contentment Low turnout is often considered to be undesirable, and there is much debate over the factors that affect turnout and how to increase it
Young people don't have the time to vote because they are receiving health, education, tax benefits and are served with a golden spoon.so they don't vote because they aren't living. Also because most people think that our vote doesn't count. They think that the politicians have the last say so of the votes.
Of course some people are lazy or just don't know who to vote vote for. Also, some people don't vote because they don't like anyone on the ballot. They don't want to settle for the lesser of two evils. They rather not even be a part of it. Amish and Mennonites don't vote because of that too.
Voter turnout is the percentage of eligible voters who cast a ballot in an election. Who is eligible varies by country, and should not be confused with the total adult population. For example, some countries discriminate based on sex, race, and/or religion. Age and citizenship are usually among the criteria.
"There are quite a few reasons for having a low voter turnout during political elections. Some people simply do not want to vote, so they don't. Other people are undecided on who they want to vote for, so they do not choose anyone. Other reasons are voter registration issues, disenfranchisement of ex-offenders, voters with disabilities, literacy issues, ballot and voter equipment problems, long lines and fixable poll procedures, and many other reasons that potential voters have reported."
