Teenagers Joining Gangs

Research teenagers joining gangs. What does research tell us that young people are looking for when they join gangs? Relate your findings to Rusty-James. Respond to two classmates.

  3. Color blindness occurs when there is a problem with the color-sensing granules in certain nerve cells of the eye. These cells are called cones. They are found in the retina, the light-sensitive layer of tissue that lines the back of the eye. I think rusty James got in because he didn't have anyone.

  4. The reason why young people are joining gangs are looking for excitement, protection, respect, territory, recognition, and power over people. I think Rusty was in a gang and did something that could not be undone.

  5. Being part of a gang allows the gang member to achieve a level of status he/she feels impossible outside the gang culture. I think rusty James got in because he didn't have anyone.

  6. Some members are forced to join if their membership will contribute to the gang’s criminal activity. Some join to intimidate others in the community not involved in gang activity. Rusty James got in a gang because nobody was around and he wanted to be apart of something

  7. Teenagers join gangs so they could have friends, family, want money to help there family, have revenge on someone, wants power, or even they family is already in a gang. Rusty wanted to be in a family so he join with them.

  8. Some teenagers join gangs because there was never someone there for them to be a role model.So they think gang members would be the role models they are looking for.I think Rusty James had a hard life when he was younger and he thought a gang would be the best thing for him

  9. Teens join gangs due to quite a number of reasons. This includes getting: excitement, recognition, friends, respect, acceptance, territory, protection, power over other people and a sense of belonging. Most teens never realise they are gang members, they just think they are in company of friends.

  12. Gang members join a gang by either committing a crime or undergoing an initiation procedure wherein they are bitten by fellow gang members to test their courage and fighting ability. Some people call it fellowship of brotherhood.

  14. These risk factors increase the odds that a young person will join a gang, but is not a guarantee as we see members joining from suburbs and seemingly stable family environments. The reasons why young people join gangs can vary from simple to more complex.
